I only remembered it because I was in exactly the same situation, trying to get genkernel to not overwrite my kernel config. I remember being annoyed that genkernel didn't have a --no-oldconfig command line option. I'm surprised it still doesn't. After all, several other optio= ns have corresponding --no-* variants, like "--[no-]mrproper". Oh, well.
