Hi,

I was trying to understand about Disk Space issue on Linux Box.
whenever the disk usage is 100%. Still i am able to login to the host
using root user. How does it work. was curious to know.

You have supplied way too little information to give a definitive answer. So 
I'll tell you the usual cause:

The ext2 filesystem and it's derivatives reserve 5% of disk space exclusively 
for root's use.
