Look at gcc's makefiles. 

It builds gcc with the old compiler then uses that new compiler to rebuild the 
exact same source code twice. If, and only if, those two outputs are bitwise 
identical, then the last new compiler gets installed.

So your process is superfluous as you are duplicating work that gcc's build 
system has already done and guaranteed to be correct.
