It saves time you don't have to spend on sending mails to the list ;) Seriously thought, the documentation is very good and helpfull. Most daily problems can be solved easily after reading it. For compilation problems it saves a lot of your time if you look into bugs.gentoo.org first. Ok, the search interface sucks very much - as with all bugzillas, but it is still usefull. ^ permalink raw reply [flat|nested] 17+ messages in thread

Because the real problems hit stable users too - just a bit later (I have gentoo users among my friends - they run stable, they run in problems I solved for myself weeks/month ago. Or run into problems I never had..). So the only bonus about running 'stable': old software. ^ permalink raw reply [flat|nested] 17+ messages in thread

The user is free to make their own choice and that choice is not up to you. If you disagree with the user's choice, feel free to click the "Next Unread Mail" button. Am I allowed to interrupt the discussion with another kaffeine problem? ;) Meanwhile I compiled kaffeine ... but now it does not find "xine_part.desktop" ... on the other hand: ls /usr/share/services/xine_part.desktop /usr/share/services/xine_part.desktop it is on my system. I straced kaffeine and it not even attempt to access that file. Thanks a lot ... it simply WORKKS! Great to hear! At least sometimes my blind guessing works. :) Anyway, you might want to file a bug for it, if it prevents running kaffeine. Also, there is already one (by some other kind person) possibly fixing your original problem with kaffeine-0.8.6: http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=273030 But there is also this one: http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=272736 I'm wondering if this latter one is due to similar path problems? It would seem as if all kaffeine (or kde?) versions could be suffering from looking for various things like .desktop entries, icons etc from under similarly wrong paths? -- Arttu V. ^ permalink raw reply [flat|nested] 17+ messages in thread

I can not remember you trying to find information about his problem. The 'unstable' version can not be worse. ^ permalink raw reply [flat|nested] 17+ messages in thread
