Xandros has already used up *all* of the HD on one partition. I can't format the drive without destroying the OS which is installing it. There isn't even enough room to download the snapshots, portage and so forth. And at some point I'm going have to connect with gentoo(which is the basis of the systemrescue, hence my asking here).

OK, I'll try it. First some questions?
Is eeeXbuntu an install/live distro?
Was there any wifi issues? Must have wifi throughout the process.
Do you use an SD card? If so, are there issues with regard to r/w times as compared to an SSHD?
How much space does it require? I've got 4G available but I'd like to have, say a Gig free. See above.
I've been looking at eeebuntu-base2.0. Do you know enough to compare them?

Yes,with a script to copy it from CD to USB stick.

I can't remember, I may have used a wired connection for the install.

I don't install to an SD card, I'm not comfortable with the limited write
cycles, I only use mine for non-critical storage.

I you only have Xandros installed, you should have 16GB available, You'll
certainly fit it in 4G, probably 3. A basic *buntu install doesn't take up
that much space.

No.
I only use eeXubuntu because it was there, easy to run from a USB stick
and had everything I needed to use my computer and install Gentoo at the
same time.

Hi group,
I posted the following at the sysrescuecd forum but I despair of ever getting a worthwhile answer:
I've got a tripleE 900A with 4G SSHD running Xandros and I want to use the sysrescueCD to install gentoo. But I have to be able to use the wifi driver(ATH5K). There's no problem connecting from Xandros but when I boot the USB key with rescueCD I cannot connect.
When the USB key boots one of the messages that flies past is "Setting up network". No, it doesn't, unless it means ethernet, which I don't have access to. When boot is finished I'm told to run net-setup. OK, I run
Code:
cat /proc/net/wireless
and find I'm using wanl0 and run net-setup which finds the right driver OK. Then I run
Code:
iwlist wanl0 scan
and it finds the wifi. So I use the info it finds, essid, channel etc in iwconfig eg
Code:
iwconfig wlan0 essid "Hot-spot name"
and so forth.
I've tried it at several places which are open and require no key. And at my own place where a key is required.
But it does no good I can't even ping a URL.
Can anybody help? I hate Xandros, it reminds me of Win98!
