I just did an total upgrade of my system, with 'emerge -uD world' and
now Firefox (in version 3.0.5) lost the ability to do DNS lookups for
most (but not all) pages. Only a few sites are accessible:

www.google.com
www.mozilla.org
www.gnu.org
www.yahoo.com
www.ripe.net

and some variations of the above, like:

www.google.de
www.mozilla.com

Most of everything else I try to load, results in:

Address Not Found

Firefox can't find the server at www.gentoo.org.

The browser could not find the host server for the provided address.

    * Did you make a mistake when typing the domain? (e.g.
    * "ww.mozilla.org" instead of "www.mozilla.org")
    * Are you certain this domain address exists? Its registration may
    * have expired.
    * Are you unable to browse other sites? Check your network
    * connection and DNS server settings.
    * Is your computer or network protected by a firewall or proxy?
    * Incorrect settings can interfere with Web browsing.

All sites are visible by the system DNS:

miernik@przehyba ~ $ ping www.gentoo.org
PING www.gentoo.org (209.177.148.228) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from wren.gentoo.org (209.177.148.228): icmp_seq=1 ttl=52 time=315 ms

And all sites are perfecty accessible from Konqueror.
Only Firefox got broken.

How can I fix my Firefox?

This is really strange, its the first time I see something like this,
that a few selected sites work, and the rest doesn't. Please help.

And I did try removing my ~/.mozilla/firefox/ directory, but it didn't
help.

Just a completely random shot in the dark: can you try rebuilding
firefox without ipv6?

Tried now, added -ipv6 to make.conf, emerged mozilla-firefox again, but
didn't help.  Thanks anyway.
