The browser is operating in its offline mode and cannot connect to the requested item. * Is the computer connected to an active network? * Place the browser in online mode and try again. My computer is surely connected to an active network, I can wget without problems, and of course I can go to the File menu and switch off the stupid "Offline" mode, but I don't want to do that every time I start Firefox, so why does he put me in this mode in the first place? What can I do to have Firefox start normally, like it does in Debian? It's a pity that Linux applications start to behave more and more like MS-Windows ones - they do what THEY think is best instead of letting the user do what he wants. I want to browse the web and I am online, while the stupid program thinks I am offline, and prevents me to browse the web. -- Miernik http://miernik.name/ -- gentoo-user@lists.gentoo.org mailing list
