This morning I did "emerge -DuN world -pv" on a PC with stable "x86" Gentoo. Portage says it wants to update only: '[ebuild U ] sys-apps/man-1.6e-r3 [1.6e-r1] USE="nls" 0 kB' Well, reading the recent thread about kernel-2.6.20, something made me try "emerge -pv gentoo-sources" and I was really surprised to see: '[ebuild NS ] sys-kernel/gentoo-sources-2.6.20-r6 USE="symlink -build" 0 kB 42,580 kB' So, "emerge -pv gentoo-sources" wants to install the new kernel source, while "emerge -DuN world" doesn't.
