thx a lot, that was the tip I needed.
Now renamed the file from gnome-commander.ebuild to
gnome-commander-1.2.3.ebuild, downloaded the bz2 file and executed ebuild
gnome-commander-1.2.3.ebuild digest and everything compiled fine.
