Hello!

I want to set up default acl to a directory, but it doesn't work:

# setfacl -d -m u::rw,g::rw,o::r /home/penzugy
setfacl: /home/penzugy: Operation not permitted

But setting a normal acl (not default) works well.

What could be the problem?

Thanks for the help in advance,
István

Have you mounted the file system with -o acl (assuming that its ext3)?

Furthermore have you enabled ACL support in the kernel?

Thanks

If not he'd not be able to set non-default ACL, no?

No, I didn't use the -o acl option, because the man page of moun doesn't
mention that it can be used with ext3 (only with ext2), but I remounted it
with this option, and now the acl command works well.

Thanks for the help,
István
