It's certainly possible to run "KDE" without it, by=20 writing your own scripts, but that's almost getting to the point where=20 your are running KDE application in your own custom desktop environment. Of course, it's fairly arbitrary where the line is between just running KDE= =20 applications and running "KDE". Certainly you are running "KDE" if you=20 are running it as defined by upstream (kdelibs, kdebase, kdegames, kdepim,= =20 etc.; the whole #!) which is achieved in Gentoo by emerging kde-meta=20 (modular) or kde (monolithic). Also, I doubt anyone would say you are=20 running KDE if you have amaroK in your Gnome session, even if you are=20 using kwin as your window manager. There's a lot of middle ground though. > So start by unmerging everything, then merge 3.5.5 as above. No need to unmerge first. 1) edit your world file, 2) emerge -n anything=20 want to keep, 3) emerge -a --depclean. =2D-=20 "If there's one thing we've established over the years, it's that the vast majority of our users don't have the slightest clue what's best for them in terms of package stability." =2D- Gentoo Developer Ciaran McCreesh --nextPart3219646.zqbM0erYDt Content-Type: application/pgp-signature -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.5 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQBFYadTq72nDbhDXToRAqWFAJ46w/+34n7qY2WEkPC+LyWvuW7FJQCfbN2E g6iceCqZuOXSfOp7cCj+8p8= =Do79 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --nextPart3219646.zqbM0erYDt-- -- gentoo-user@gentoo.org mailing list
