Tab completion helps in this case:

grub> setup (        <--press tab here

This should list suitable devices.  If need be try them in turn.  The one w=
ith=20
the OS in it should boot.  Also, if you are unsure where Grub's root is=20
(typically your /boot partition) then before running the setup command you=
=20
can run:

grub> find /boot/grub/stage1
