Not really sure. On amd64 this requires some of the 
app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-* packages (since skype is a 32 bit app), but it 
should pull them by itself... What does:

# equery check app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-compat

give? What version of skype are you using? Please also post the output of:

# emerge --info
