Hi,

I'm trying to do a fresh install on my second drive here. I copied the
portage directory over from my current install and I keep getting this
error that it is corrupt or something.

I have re-synced a couple times and still no joy at all. My install
can't get pass this because some other packages depends on it. I have
also tried a ton of other mirrors. I used mirrorselect -i and added
them all in and get the same thing. A lot of the mirrors don't have the
file. I even tried getting it from the freedesktop.org website with the
same thing. This seems to work fine on my old install.

What's up with this? Anybody else run into this? Does it need a roach
report?

Ooops, sorry, I tried that too. It keeps giving me the same thing. I
even went to the freedesktop site and downloaded it myself and it still
does the same thing. I also deleted the directory x11-misc/util-macros
and then synced again. Same thing.

Any more ideas??

Thanks for the reply though. I tried so many things that I forgot that
one. May have forgot some more too.

Huh??

$ wget http://xorg.freedesktop.org/releases/individual/util/util-macros-1.1.0.tar.bz2
$ md5sum util-macros-1.1.0.tar.bz2
bc06eebd94b6e65405c2d5b1e479fea8  util-macros-1.1.0.tar.bz2

That matches expected md5sum above...

Well, I clicked on your link and it worked. Can you tell me what the
heck was wrong with it?

Thanks much.

/mnt/gentoo/usr/portage/distfiles == /usr/portage/distfiles ?

I downloaded it with Seamonkey though. I saved it to my Desktop then
used Konqueror are root to copy it over. It won't let a lowly user
named dale do it.  ;-)

Whatever I did, I was consistent about it. I did it about 10 or 12
times, the wrong way apparently.

Me confused, but it is compiling though. < thumbs up here >

Yea, I'm doing a install on another drive. I mounted it at
/mnt/gentoo. It makes copy and paste easier. :D I'm trying to get a
clean start. This is a three year old install and I have learned a
lot. Still have a loooong way to go though. Care to help me a bit
more?  LOL

I also always add the -v to rm. I like to see it do it, especially the
second time around.
