The guy on the mythtv list thought his was OK too until someone else spotted the error - I'm not saying you cannot read a log file, but y'know it happens to the best of us :-(
As far as i recall you have been trying so far with composite/line in. Is it worth trying the tuner?
What sort of input does your line-in have? Mine is two RCA plugs, but I have heard of them having the 2.5mm stereo plugs too (like a headphone socket on a walkman). If so, make sure the plug is the right one.
Not sure where else to go from here, except back to the vendor.
