Php 4 and php 5 is in dev-lang/php-XXX. dev-lang will also build your apache module for you. I made the same mistake at first. I installed mod_php, though I wanted php5 and couldn't get it to install with mod_php. Once I instlled dev-lang/php everything worked out.
