I think you can go with any bootable floppy that can in turn boot your
CDROM. I think you should be able to find instructions using google. I
haven't done this myself though.

I can highly recommend this guide.
http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Install_Gentoo_without_a_livecd
If you have a usb stick and some time to read the guide it will be done
in no time. Otherwise netboot might be a good idea.
Best regards,
Pontus Stenetorp

This link may help:

Actually I disagree with this. The old testament gave us 'the law' which was
for the lawless.
The 'new testament' provides a means to 'live in the spirit'. Few bother to
read and study what 'living in the spirit' really means. God transcends
time, as is often stated, 'I am the alpha and the omega'. String
theory tells us it is possible to have dimensions, or parallel universes,
without the physics of time, as a constraint. As long as we choose to
live in a lawless system, characterized byavoiding accountability, we can not
rise above the dimension of time.
That's why humnanoids have such a difficult time with the concept with God.
His power, transcends time.....thus the new testament is a wonderfully rich
document of advanced mathematics and physics that we as lawless humanoids
struggle to comprehend. Most of our current political and scientific
foundation is built upon mankind's pursuit of evil (better know as
'an escape from accountability'). The sooner we individually learn to
accept accountability, the sooner one can 'live in the spirit'.
At that point, the mathematical possibilities are limitless, with
ifinite (eternal) life just being the doorway to a multi dimension
future that is without bounds.
peace,
James

I'll stick with living in the matter for now, thank you.

If your BIOS doesn't support CDROM boot, I would recommend you to boot
from the Smart Boot Manager, a free(beer/speech) boot floppy disk that
allows to boot from cdrom even if your bios doesn't want to.

1. Install grub on a floppy
2. Edit the floppy's /grub/grub.conf something like this:
default 0
timeout 10
splashimage=(fd0)/boot/grub/splash.xpm.gz
title=Peter: Gentoo Linux 2.6.13-gentoo-r4
root (hd0,1)
kernel (hd0,1)/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.13-gentoo-r4 root=/dev/hde5
hdc=ide-cdrom hdd=ide-cdrom video=vesafb:ypan,1024x768-16@85
# For installing GRUB into the hard disk
title Install GRUB into Peter's hard disk
root (hd0,1)
setup (hd0,1)
