hi
I have been trying to install kde but i dont know why
is it not working ... Whenever i do emerge --usepkg
kde compilation works fine .. But the system hangs up
on the point
/bin/install -c -p -m 644 KDE_Logout.wav
/var/tmp/portage/kde-3.4.1-r1/image/usr/kde/3.4/share/sounds/kde_Logout.wav
Can anyone pls help me out of this situation coz its
really hard to compile the kernel again and again or
atleast is there a way so that i can just install the
already created image of kde ...
Rgds & Thnx

What does "df /var/tmp" show at this point? It sounds like you may b
running out of room. If so, either free up some space or change the
setting for PORTAGE_TMPDIR in /etc/make.conf to point somewhere with more
free space.
If you have had other emrges fail, it may be that /var/tmp/portage is
becoming cluttered, in which case: rm -fr /var/tmp/portage

Why would you need to recompile the kernel because of a KDE installation
failure?
