Hello everybody,

This is another "C compiler cannot create executables
error" :( There's a lot of stuff in the archive about
it but nothing I've seen so far seems to suit my case.

I ran emerge --sync successfully and then tried -uv
world; it failed trying to compile sed-4.1.4

Sure enough, compiling Hello_World.c, did not produce
the .o file

Anyways, here's the /var/tmp/portage/../config.log:

This file contains any messages produced by compilers
while
running configure, to aid debugging if configure makes
a mistake.

It was created by sed configure 4.1.4, which was
generated by GNU Autoconf 2.59. Invocation command
line was

  $ ./configure --prefix=/usr --host=i686-pc-linux-gnu
--mandir=/usr/share/man --infodir=/usr/share/info
--datadir=/usr/share --sysconfdir=/etc
--localstatedir=/var/lib --enable-nls

What is the output of:

gcc-config -l (-l is a small L)

and the output of:
 emerge --info
