Considering how long compilation would take on this, the best approach may be to install in a chroot on a more capable machine, then simply set up the partitions and copy everything over once it is all compiled and set up. Make sure you set your CFLAGS and CHOST to match the laptop. then you only need to run grub to set up the bootloader and you're away.
