You can use pdftotext, part of xpdf. But it doesn't raster the PDF, it
just extracts text that it can extract and tries to sort it in logical
order. This isn't very comfortable and you're probably losing
information this way.
If you're looking for a framebuffer solution which rasters the pages: I
didn't found one. I decided that once i have a little bit of spare time,
i'll write a framebuffer driver for ghostscript. You may raster the PDF
to images with ghostscript and view it with a image viewer, e.g. convert
a pdf to a multi-image-tiff (at fixed resolution) and use fbi/fbv to
view that. (I don't really know if those can cope with multi-image
tiffs)
