I tried this earlier, running startx without an /etc/X11/xorg.conf in
place, but X didn't start. The error message was something along the
lines of "No screen found."
I'm running:
- x11-base/xorg-server-1.5.3-r6
- x11-base/xorg-x11-7.2
- sys-apps/hal-0.5.11-r9
