Dale,

Your assumption that I missed a section is entirely offbase and does not re=
spond to
my original question. I could say that you are missing the point of what I =
asked.
For those who have had helpful suggestions I give thanks.

 Again, top posting to
 follow his lead.=20
=20
 It's
 not a fight.=C2=A0 It's just called being prepared.=C2=A0
 Missing a section
 isn't going to give
 you a proper install.=C2=A0 It's one reason I always
 recommend a person read the docs several
 times.=C2=A0 The reason for that, if
 something
 doesn't seem right, you will more than likely notice it
 and go
 back and figure out what was
 missed.=C2=A0 The fact that I don't see a
 all-in-one page guide isn't helping you
 any.=C2=A0 If it was on one page,
 even as a
 option for those who don't like it, then you likely
 wouldn't
 have missed a section.=C2=A0 Just
 start at the top and work your way down.=20
 Maybe after this, someone will see the need for
 at least some of us to
 have it all in one
 long page.=C2=A0 Maybe Rich can whisper in someone's
 ear.=C2=A0=C2=A0=C2=A0I guess printing it and
 putting it in order would work but that
 means a lot of typing when a lot of times, a
 copy and paste will be
 easier.=20
=20
 Thing is, it's hard to
 tell what was wrong because no one knew you
 missed a section, I suspect Neil did sort of
 figure that to be the case
 tho which is why
 he replied with what he did.=C2=A0 What we do know, if you
 follow the guide, you should get a bootable
 system.=C2=A0 It may not be 100%
 perfect but it
 should boot at least.=C2=A0 Gentoo has some excellent docs,
 especially the install part.=C2=A0 Unless you have
 some pretty odd hardware,
 it should work.
=20
=20
 One thing I learned the
 hard way.=C2=A0 Pretty much no matter what you may
 mess up, you can chroot in and go back and fix
 it. Just boot using
 whatever media you
 selected, follow the mount and chroot section and
 then correct whatever is wrong.=C2=A0 You do NOT
 have to start from scratch
 most of the
 time.=C2=A0 You'd have to have made a boo boo in the very
 early
 stages to end up doing that.=20
=20
 I'm just hoping you can
 fix this easily and finish your install.=C2=A0 :-)

 Actually, he isn't, which is hard to

 top-posting.

 Actually he is and your reply
 >=C2=A0
 supports that point.=C2=A0 Also, I top posted
 >=C2=A0 because he did and I posted that
 reasoning.=20
 >=C2=A0 I'm sure he will get
 around
 >=C2=A0 to bottom
 >=C2=A0 posting when he gets his install done.=C2=A0
 Who knows what he
 >=C2=A0 is
 >=C2=A0 using at the moment.=20

 >=C2=A0 The step
 that was missed was well

 >=C2=A0 the process.

 >=C2=A0 If he
 was reading and following the install
 >=C2=A0
 guide, how did he do that
 >=C2=A0 when he
 missed a
 >=C2=A0 whole section?=C2=A0 Obviously,
 he wasn't following it
 >=C2=A0 since
 >=C2=A0 he missed the section.=C2=A0 When I did
 my
 >=C2=A0 first install well over a
 decade
 >=C2=A0 ago, I read
 >=C2=A0 that thing at least three of four times
 to even see if I
 >=C2=A0 wanted to try
 Gentoo.=C2=A0 During my last install
 >=C2=A0 on
 my new rig a few years
 >=C2=A0 ago, I read
 it
 >=C2=A0 twice even tho it was mostly the
 same.=C2=A0 Installing
 >=C2=A0 Gentoo
 >=C2=A0 isn't easy but it is very hard
 >=C2=A0 when you are not familiar enough with
 the
 >=C2=A0 process to even realize you
 missed a whole
 >=C2=A0 section.=C2=A0 If you
 follow the
 >=C2=A0 guide and
 >=C2=A0 don't miss anything, it should
 work.=C2=A0 The only major
 >=C2=A0 set back
 >=C2=A0 you can have is a badly configured
 >=C2=A0 kernel that won't complete the
 boot
 >=C2=A0 process.=C2=A0 I might add, this is
 also why I
 >=C2=A0 prefer a one page guide.
=20
 >=C2=A0 Start at the top
 >=C2=A0 and work your way to the bottom.=C2=A0 Very
 little chance of
 >=C2=A0 missing anything
 then.=20
 >=C2=A0=20
 >=C2=A0 Now
 that he knows he missed a section, maybe he
 >=C2=A0 can chroot into it, do
 >=C2=A0 that section and
 >=C2=A0
 finish the install.=C2=A0 That is unless his mobo blows out.=20
