I made it a bit further:  something is calling
 "/etc/init.d/samba status" - I found this out by
editing /etc/init.d/runscript.sh and changing the output to print the
service name, so instead of 

rc-scripts: status:  stopped
I got 
rc-scripts: samba status:  stopped

So what's calling /etc/init.d/samba status all the time??

please, any suggestions are welcome.
