I changed the setting in /etc/conf.d/rc as you suggested and rebooted.

I didn't see anything there that hinted at being my TV card, yet I KNOW
it's in there.  It works great in Windows.  It's a Hauppage
WinTV-PVR-250.  Why doesn't it show up in /dev?
