Mit genkernel kenne ich mich nicht aus, Ich mache sowas immer mit:

make -C /usr/src/linux oldconfig

Das vergleicht dann die Änderungen zur alten kernel config und, stellt
nur die optionen zur auswahl welche neu sind.
