Hallo Leute,
seit Jahren habe ich Probleme mit vmware auf meinem System. Bin gerade
mal wieder gezwungen etwas mit Windows zu machen und wollte mir aus dem
Grund mal wieder eine virtuelle Maschine installieren. Deshalb also
vmware-server-1.0.7.108231 installiert. Wie auch schon frueher mit
diversen vmware-workstation-Versionen lief die Installation von
virtuellen Maschinen sehr langsam bzw. hing immer wieder komplett,
sodass die virtuelle Maschine resettet werden musste. Spielen an der
Konfiguration brachte auch nichts, erst als ich meinen Rechner neu
gebootet hatte mit der Bootoption "nosmp" lief die Installation endlich
fluessig durch und das installierte Windows XP laueft auch ganz ordentlich.
Dieses Problem habe ich wie gesagt schon seit Jahren. Zwischenzeitlich
mit einigen Versionen von vmware-workstation lief es auch mit 2 CPUs.
Mein System ist uebrigens ein Tyan Thunder K8WE (S2895) mit 2 x AMD
Opteron 246 und 3GB RAM.
Hat irgendjemand aehnliche Erfahrungen gemacht und hat evtl. eine
Loesung fuer das Problem?
