Jo, das Problem hatte ich gestern auch nach einer frischen Installation
von gentoo x86. Ich nehme an, Du benutzt auch Stable?

Es liegt an alsa-lib-1.0.8. Das ist kaputt.
http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=87099

Maskiere in /etc/portage/profile/package.mask
=media-libs/alsa-lib-1.0.8
=media-libs/alsa-utils-1.0.8

und schreibe in /etc/portage/package.keywords
=media-sound/alsa-utils-1.0.7 ~x86
=media-libs/alsa-lib-1.0.7 ~x86

dann remerge =alsa-utils-1.0.7 und =alsa-lib-1.0.7

oder gehe alternativ einfach auf 1.0.9.
Dafür sollte ein

media-sound/alsa-utils ~x86
media-libs/alsa-lib ~x86

in
/etc/portage/package.keywords

ausreichen.
