Auch wenn ich zur eigentlichen Frage nichts beitragen kann, ESXi kann
prinzipiell auch auf Hardware laufen, auf der es sich nicht installieren
läßt. D.h. z.B. kann man ein Image auf einen USB-Stick werfen und den ESXi
von dort booten - oder zur Installation ein "supportetes System" heranziehen
und das Image per dd auf das Zielsystem clonen. Es gibt Mittel und
Wege - logischerweise abseits dessen, was VMWare als "supportet" ansieht.
