Hallo,

danke für euere Antworten. Das Problem waren bzw. sind nicht die Umlaute,
sondern es werden
beim Parsen von XML Dateien die HTML Tags entfernt. Also aus <p> wird dann
bspw. p

Es ist jetzt laut 
# emerge --search libxml2

die aktuellste Version installiert (2.7.3).

In einem phpinfo() Skript dagegen wird angezeigt:

libxml2 Version 	2.6.31


Wie kann man die neue Version auch für PHP verwenden?
