A única relação existente entre o FluxBox e OpenBox que parece é que ambos
são evolução do BlackBox, FluxBox em C++ e OpenBox em C. Fonte:

Mas no uso diário, a diferença é pequena. Eu já usei os dois, no entanto
prefiro o Fluxbox. O Fluxbox me parece mais trabalhado e mais pronto em
relação ao Openbox. Mas em relação as configurações, tudo é feito em
arquivos mesmo. É questão de usar de escolher qual você se adapta melhor.
