Pessoal.

Alguém já passou por esse problema?
Administro um Dell R900 octa-core com 16GB RAM.

Essa máquina roda 64 bits, presumo eu? Passa mais info (quantos bancos de
memória, por exemplo).

São varias placas com vários pentes de memória. Ela usa memória ECC. Já cogitei problema de mal contato, tirei todos os pentes de todos os bancos de memória e limpei, nao resolveu.

O core dump dá logo que levanta o mysql ou depois de um tempo rodando?

É durante a execução do mysql, depois de algum tempo (as vezes horas ou dias).
O mais louco é que ele nao é afetado, nao preciso restartar o serviço.

Sem analisar mais completamente, eu diria que existe algum problema físico
na memória, mas testar (memtest) esses GBs num server é praticamente
inviável (demora e o server fica off)...

Talvez retirar pentes seletivamente?

Realmente, deixar essa server off é inviável.

Mas quando tive a oportunidade, desliguei e fiz a limpeza dos bancos de memória e dos pentes em cada banco, nao resolveu.

Tb acredito ser algum tipo de problema físico, mas difícil diagnosticar por ser memória ECC.

Se ele não puder ficar com o servidor desligado, acho que seria legal
retirar os pentes seletivamente como você disse e testar eles com o memtest
em outro computador que suporte ECC, só pra ter certeza :)

Olha, nao sei se as memórias são hot-swap... teoricamente deveria ser, mas é um servidor de banco de dados, nao é beeemmmm assim chegar, abrir e arrancar algumas memórias... rsrs. Até porque elas estão em bancos que são placas cheio de pentes de memória, teria de tirar uns 4GB por vez... #medo hehehe.

É complicado.
Mas tirar 4GB por vez seria uma ótima, quatro janelas de manutenção
espaçadas, sem muito tempo offline... E vai que você dá sorte e no primeiro
já acha o dito-cujo... Mas concordo.... Medo total.
