Estou instalando gentoo em uma máquina até agora corria tudo muito bem.
Até que na hora de emergir o KDE 4 estável do portage tenho o seguinte erro, na
hora de emergir o htdig

Aproveitando o gancho, poderia ser LC_ALL=utf8
sem determinar um país em especifico?
No debian a principio é definido como POSIX, mas como tinha maquinas com
iso8859-1 us e pt, pt_BR.utf8 resolvemos aportuguesar e deixar tudo com
pt_BR-utf8.

Eu retirei o LC_ALL
e meu locale -a ficou:
C
POSIX
pt_BR.UTF-8
e o locale, ficou com tudo em pt_BR.UTF-8, apenas o LC_ALL em branco!
Mas mesmo assim não da certo, quando a compilação da problema a tela fica toda
cheia de caracteres estranhos, realmente está estranho.
Ai alguém pode perguntar é o PC, mas rodo outra instalação com o KDE4.3 nele sem
problema.
Eu realmente fiquei perdido com este defeito

Concordo com o que o Hamilton disse, principalmente por causa do
trecho acima onde o ld retorna um erro pois parece não reconhecer um
de seus próprios arquivos, necessários para gerar os binários.

Eu reemergi o GCC 4.4.4 e tudo ficou funcionando! Acho que ele estava corrompido, ou foi na descompactação ou o stage está.
