I'm still up for the filling out the 501(c)(6) paperwork, but one of
those things we need are the bylaws.. I think I could handle it all
but that. I imagine the bylaws will need input from everyone. It
wouldn't hurt there to look off of some other projects and similar NFP's.

Corey -
I have started researching other organization's by-laws and practices. I
am currently in contact with the Fedora Project, the Debian Project, and
SPI (http://www.spi-inc.org) (the Debian folks referred me to them). I
will let you know what I find.
Cheers,

Dear all,
I've put together a very preliminary set of bylaws that I stole (with
permission) from the Python software foundation. I suspect that we'll
want to make a lot of changes, but I suspect it will serve as a decent
starting point. We'll also need to pass whatever final version we come
up with by our consul, of course, but I suspect we've got a fair bit of
hashing-out to do before we get to that step.

About:
Section 3.1. : Why delaware? Is that missed?
Section 3.4 : The sentence "If mailed, such notice shall be deemed to be
delivered when deposited in the United States mail addressed" seems to be
gramatically wrong (around the deposited in the United States mail)
Section 4.4 : Maybe it might be an idea to allow the posibility that the
members delegate the admission of members to the board.
Section 6.1 : I think it's probably better if the treasurer's position is
similarly protected like the president and the secretary.

Good work Grant!
The only part that I am concerned about is the clause about "Sponsor
Members". I am not sure if I like the idea of a sponsor being able to
buy themselves onto the board. Perhaps I am interpreting it wrong, but I
can see this as something which could harm us down the line (conflicts
of interest, etc). Would it be possible to remove this section and just
leave membership at two classes?
Regards,
//John

This is something else I want to add to the adjenda for this conference
call in the morning. We've discussed this now and then, but we've never
decided on theese, and I think this should be done soon
By the way, this is the last call for items to be added to the adjenda
for tomorrow's meeting, please let me know soon if there's anything else
you'd like discussed..
