We need to inform our counsel that we are ready to present it to the devs.
The one who drafted the document is willing to be involved in talks with the
devs personally rather than us play telephone between him and the dev
community. This means he'll need to be in on the mailing list. And,
speaking of said list, discussions on the copyright proposal will need to
remain PRIVATE at the requirement of our counsel until they are finalized to
protect our status with our legal counsel. This means no blog ranting or
cross-posting of discussions. I believe when we were discussing this with
them the idea that was brought up between Kurt and I was to create a new
mailing list for these discussions. Anyone who violates the privacy of the
discussion faces immediate suspension (and there will be people who do this.
sucks to be them.)
If we want to get this ball rolling that's great.
Cheers,
-C

The next step i believe is to present it to the devs. Does anyone have
any problems with my going ahead with this to keep things moving?

Nope. It'll certainly be a hot topic though - I'll try to defend it as much
as possible.

I'm certainly all for pushing it out to our devs.

I agree, we've all said all we have to say. Now it has to be up to the
community to accept, reject or modify it. I believe we have come up with
the best solution we can, the only thing that is going to be difficult
is convincing the community of the need for it (that and the fact that
the document lacks any sinister nature).
Is there any way that we can get it posted to -core coming from the
trustees@ address...I think it would be far better if it was clear that
the document was coming from the trustees as a whole and not just one
individual.

Sure, just one of us can create a mail alias in our client that purports
to come from "trustees@gentoo.org" and is named "Gentoo Foundation
Trustees."
We'd just need to make sure -core can accept posts from that address.
Thanks,
Donnie
