All,

Starting Monday, genux will start offering gentoo tech support to
businesses to try to make it more of an insentive for business and
others along those lines to use gentoo.

This is mostly geared towards businesses. They plan to start with
email/web support, and build out from there, and most likely start
offering phone support with in the next couple of weeks.

I say this because genux plans to donate around 10% of each support
ticket that they receive back to gentoo. They're also looking to hire 2
developers who may be interested in the job who may be interested in
dealing with the customers and doing support.

I figured that this would be a good place to send this since they are
looking at hiring more then the 3 devs they've already hired for gentoo,
as well as making a lot more donations then the hardware and money
they've donated.

As a board member, I'm interested in the feedback of other trustees such
as concerns, etc.

Thanks!

In the spirit of "better late than never":

I don't see any problem with this. After all, you're just asking for
talented developers to think about a certain position in a company - nothing
wrong with that.

There is some concern amongst some developers about Gentoo's "position" as
an independent distribution, but I'm sure that this is overrated: what good
would our distribution be if a company offering support for Gentoo wouldn't
hire Gentoo developers :)

Of course, there is some speculation about Gentoo's fame when we would start
creating a list of "available" developers, but that's another discussion
that's already held on -dev (or was it -core, can't remember).

Wkr,
      Sven Vermeulen
