[gentoo-trustees] monthly nfp status updates

[Deedra Waters]

I'm thinking that we should post monthly status updates as to what we're
doing on either core or dev. We get a lot of questions as to what the
nfp is doing, and I think it'd be a good idea to keep our devs
informed...

Thoughts?

Excellent idea. Do we have an official Recorder yet? If we do not, I
recommend that we appoint one and have them write these updates as well
as take meeting minutes. It would be very nice if we had one by the 8th
for the meeting with our lawyer.

Since we're mostly waiting for administrative stuff there isn't much to say.
Anyway, I think it's a good idea to provide some output to our user- and
developer base, but we might want to use gentoo-nfp@gentoo.org instead as
was decided previously (in -core).

We really need to hash out the responsibilities of each position. I
imagine the bylaws will take care of that though. Swift, if you need any

I don't think I'm the suitable guy for Bylaws. Those are quite juridical and
almost always imply a native English writer. I can always take the Bylaws of
some other organisations and fix them so they're suitable for the Gentoo
Foundation, but I don't think I'm allowed to do that :)

Unlike a charter, which imho must be written in an "easy" English so that
all readers understand the ideas that are used to write it.

I'm still up for the filling out the 501(c)(6) paperwork, but one of 
those things we need are the bylaws..   I think I could handle it all 
but that.  I imagine the bylaws will need input from everyone.  It 
wouldn't hurt there to look off of some other projects and similar NFP's.

I have started researching other organization's by-laws and practices. I
am currently in contact with the Fedora Project, the Debian Project, and
SPI (http://www.spi-inc.org) (the Debian folks referred me to them). I
will let you know what I find.
