The 501(c)(3) subsidiary would be a seperate entity that your average user
could use to donate to on a tax exempt basis. That organization would be a
charity in that we would be accepting donations into that organization that
would be used to fuel Gentoo development. This works seperate from the
Gentoo Foundation 501(c)(6) itself, but would most likely be operated by the
same people. It could be used for planned fundraising activities where
donation amounts could be more controlled. This can be far down the road,
I'm not saying they need to both be filed initially. It would just be
another avenue for funding Gentoo development.
