Hi all

Quick summary: Improve the performance of the Gentoo Linux mirrors by
reducing the overall bandwidth load, allowing people to fetch binary
patches from the mirrors, instead of the full source tarballs, when
updating some package. This project is partially based on GLEP 25.

The project is still a bit ahead of schedule.

== Progress ==

This week I ran some tests in vulture... Tests performed well, but I
stopped in some corner cases, that I'm solving. Started writing
portage patches in parallel. Nothing usable yet.

On the personal side, I defended my bachelor thesis today, and I'm
almost an Engineer now (just need to do some fixes on the final text
for print, and present my internship report before I became a "full"
Engineer) :D

== Next steps ==

Fix the corner cases, until get a full tree run for distdiffer. Finish
patching portage.

Best regards,

Congratulations for your bachelor! I will have my last bachelor exam
at the very end of august.

If you need that somebody tests your work, I think that we students
could help each other. I would really need some beta testers for my
project; in facts, the testers should just install a package and let
it run for some houres.

Best regards.
Andrea

Thanks! :D And good luck with your exams!

The current tests are for the delta generation, that's part of the
server side of my project. I'll need some beta tests after I finish my
Portage patch :)

And count with me for your tests :)

Best regards,

This week I fixes some issues with my scripts and worked on the
Portage patch, to use binary deltas,

== Next steps ==

More work on the Portage patches. Run more tests in vulture.

Best regards,
