No, I don't think it is suitable for a beginner. Part of the problem
with the existing code is that it has been hacked on over the years by
several developers with less than ideal python skills. It is in need of
at least moderate python skills (preferably better) to streamline,
optimize and improve the code for fewer bugs, better readability, and
easier maintenance.
Bash skill level should be decent as well (something I DON'T
have :( I'll have to rely on others for that).
The student should also be familiar with using gentoo, how it installs
packages, and resolving installation problems. Gentoo's package manager
is central to catalyst's operation.
