Greetings.

I've successfully booted a Gentoo Server in PV-mode on XenServer 5.6 fp 1

However, the start-up messages now have their "[ ok ]" preceded by a
newline, instead of on the same line as the status message.

(Since this is PV-mode, console is attached to hvc0 instead of tty0)

I'm not sure where to look at. Any pointers?

Another strangeness:

Perusing the output of the boot-up, I saw this:

>> Loading modules
   :: Scanning for scsi_wait_scan...scsi_wait_scan loaded.
>> Hint: Use parameter scandelay[=seconds] if you need waiting here
>> Activating mdev
>> Determining root device...
>> Detected real_root=/dev/xvdb3
>> Mounting root...
>> Booting (initramfs)>> ERROR: your real /dev is missing files required to boot (console and null)..
INIT: version 2.88 booting

So, what's with the ERROR there? Can anyone provide an explanation?

The system boots okay, though. But I am rather uneasy when a server
has an ERROR message during its boot-up.

Ah, I see. I'll just disregard the ERROR then.

Thanks!
