I know you can "touch /forcefsck" to have checkroot do a full fsck on /, 
but what about non-root file-systems? checkroot removes the /forcefsck 
file after its finished right?

if fs is ext2 ext3 ext4 use tune2fs

man tune2fs

tip set the mount counter to a high value and reboot
