I've just released Quickstart 0.5. I've been slacking terribly since the 0.4
release back on December 31, 2006. However, I have done a few things, and I
decided it was enough to justify doing another release. Here's the short list:

* added support for creating/mounting XFS and reiserfs3
* various fixes to the handling of extended/logical partitions
* add disk detection, so that you can use $disk0 instead of /dev/hda for more
   flexible install profiles
* automatically modify TIMEZONE in /etc/conf.d/clock
* full busybox compatibility
* allow specification of extra kernel commandline parameters
* added a fetcher for tftp:// URIs
* many bugs fixed. this is essentially a permanent fixture in this list for
   every release :P

If you would like more information, the project page for Quickstart is available
at <http://dev.gentoo.org/~agaffney/quickstart.php>.

I just wanted to say thank you for working on this. I really think
this these type of projects (quickstart and scire) are important to
help spread Gentoo's use in universities and in businesses, which I
think is important for any Linux distribution.
Is quickstart being used in the Scire project?
Has anyone used quickstart and posted their experiences somewhere?

We're working on writing both a quickstart server for use for
deploying netboot installs,
as well as integration into Scire. Andrew's gonna be working mainly
on the former, myself on the latter.
Help is welcome.

Yes, they will be able to be used together. However, neither one will require
the other. The projects share a common developer (me).

Yes, a surprising number of people (to me, anyway) have been using Quickstart
since shortly after I did the first release in October of 2006. I'm not sure
about people posting their experiences, but I'm sure a google search for
"quickstart gentoo" will turn up a few things.
