Hi,

any objections against removing scilab-4 from the tree?
https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=360601

It is old and has bugs. Anybody interested should try to work on the
ebuild for version 5:
https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=237572

Cheers,
Thomas

Hi!

Please, make the new version installable first.
emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy "dev-java/jogl".
(dependency required by "sci-mathematics/scilab-5.3.2[gui]" [ebuild])
(dependency required by "=sci-mathematics/scilab-5.3.2" [argument])

I can't. I don't have enough skills, time, motivation, ... That's my
point. Are you using version-4 ? Have you tried downloading the binary
version from scilab.org? Does that work on Gentoo?

Cheers,
Thomas

Never mind. Older version doesn't run at all. I'm not really using it,
just wanted to check it out.

How about waiting until a *working* ebuild exists for scilab-5?

The existing one has never worked (on ~amd64 or ~x86).

sci-mathematics/scilab-4.1.2-r2 from gx86 is installed and working here.

Honestly, I don't see that happening. But we can wait and see.

Same here, but it's a couple of months since I tried. My problem with
giganto packages like this: It's easy to download the precompiled binary
that just works, but tilting at windmills to enforce the Gentoo way.

Cheers,
Thomas

Ok, then I'll aim for stable of -r3 then.

Thanks for your feedback.
