I am still looking for a equivalent on linux to Origin from Originlabs. 
Can someone point me to that?

Nice Prog and I think it could be the future, but today there are 
seqfaults over and over. Sadly those you cannot easily reproduce.

Its fork http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SciDAVis is in the portage tree as 
sci-visualization/scidavis

This doesn't seem to be in the portage tree, but in the science overlay.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but  I think this is what you meant.

Yes, you are perfectly right.

I just asked emerge -s if it knows scidavis, and forgot to look where 
emerge had found it. Sorry for the desinformation.
