I first heard from it when I announced my stage 4 project ( http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-610904-highlight-.html ). It's is important to know that it is my intention to stay as close as possible to the original stage 3. Every change will be documented. I expect to build the first stage 4 this week and I really would like to see these stage 4's to be used to get the seeds project started again. How can we make this possible? Hrm, I guess this means it's time for the project to come out of stealth mode :) Best regards, Stu -- On Nov 13, 2007 10:18 AM, Aniruddha <zentooist@gmail.com> wrote: > Hi, > > I am interested in resurrecting the 'seeds' project ( > http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/seeds/ ). My initial impression is that it's more a stage 3-and-a-half at the moment. It needs further development to include all the missing detail. But it is the sort of thing that Seed Linux is about, and so far I've been focusing on servers (as that is where my interest lies) - so if you'd like to join the project and lead the desktop development, let's talk some more :) Best regards, Stu -- On Nov 13, 2007 2:29 PM, Stuart Herbert <stuart.herbert@gmail.com> wrote: > Hi, > > You've probably been trying to contact me via stuart@gentoo.org. We (or at least I) really don't care, since Stuart didn't want to have anything to do with Release Engineering the first time around. But, I have no intention of bringing that old debate back up, again. You guys are free to build whatever you want, but it will never be hosted and/or endorsed by Gentoo unless we (be it Gentoo in general or releng specifically) build it and have a say-so in how it's operated. This policy is nothing "special" for seeds. There's not really anything new in your idea. It is good, but it isn't anything new. We're moving in that direction. We're just moving slowly so that we can do it correctly and within the realm of what we're able to support with our limited manpower. -- Chris Gianelloni Release Engineering Strategic Lead Alpha/AMD64/x86 Architecture Teams Games Developer/Foundation Trustee Gentoo Foundation [-- Attachment #2: This is a digitally signed message part --] [-- Type: application/pgp-signature, Size: 189 bytes --] ^ permalink raw reply [flat|nested] 13+ messages in thread
