I would like for each arch coordinator to send me a list of bugs that
were squashed (release-related) between 2004.2 and 2004.3 (just look for
past 90 days is easy way) and also a list of a few major bullet points
you want to make available.

Here's a good example:

AMD64:
- Switched to a single kernel for release media
- Made GCC 3.4 default compiler
...etc

I'm going to package this all up in the releng ChangeLog and make sure
it gets linked into the PR release for 2004.3 so everyone can see it
easily.

Umm... guys... come on... give me something to work with... after all,
the information here will probably end up in the press release and will
also make it into loads of articles, so now is the time to puff up your
chest and be proud of all the hard work you've done.

Everything that has changed / that is new is already written there:
what Versions of gcc and glibc, that we switched to cascading-profiles etc.

If that still isn't enough - simply give me a holler.

I see the release notes already include a link to
http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/gentoo-upgrading.xml
about cascading profiles.
What about linking that guide also in the 'Upgrading to Gentoo Linux 2004.3'
section, to substitute the information there? It is quite outdated now.

Thanks

Maybe you have overseen it, but it is linked.

Sorry, sorry, sorry.

Well, if somebody already has an installation using a 2004.2-profile, he
will be noticed by portage about the change, so I think there's no need
to include that information in the upgrading part again. If he does what
is described there, he will be notified about the profile being
deprecated and be told how to upgrade.

Regards,

Well, you already pretty much covered it for amd64. :-) But here's my list:

- gcc 3.3 is deprecated as of 2004.3. gcc 3.4 is default
- kernel 2.6.9-r1, single kernel on the liveCD
- fixed ide-disk issues (bug #58512)
- full support for nforce3 250 chipsets
- based on cascading profiles

Guess that's about it...
