Dell is indeed terible. One thing that is of the utmost importance is to avoid 
their lowest cost line. For the price one can get a decent pc from a "white" 
assembler dell will deliver a machine with substandard c-brand hardware, but 
a nice dell logo on the case. For other machines these socalled A-brands like 
to have custom hardware, which of course is not allways working up to 
expectations.

ps. Maybe try on other machines that do not come from DELL
