Hello Everybody,
Pls help with a quick question:
I've downloaded latest 2004.2 release(complete x86 Live CD + x86 package CD) and trying to perform Networkless Installation. I've set up X11 server, but all rest like Gnome, Kde & Xfce require additional packages to be downloaded. Is there a way to avoid that ? What do I need to set in the compile options...?
Packages are for instance:
Installing KDE - "cups-1.1.20-source.tar.bz2"
Installing Gnome - "OpenSP-1.5.tar.gz"
Installing Xfce - "audiofile-0.2.6.tar.gz"
Is there a specific command I can use to install say...all I've got on package CD related to KDE / Xfce etc. ?
Best regards,
Evgeny Bukatov,
Aktau, Kazakhstan.

Are you using the Portage snapshot on the CD? Did you change USE flags?

Hello Chris,
yep, of course. I figured out solution - that all content from package cd needs to be copied to /usr/portage/packages and emerge them with -k option. All works fine except the following:
- Gnome emerged will, but when I'm trying to start gdm is reports:
gdm: error while loading shared libraries: libXinerama.so.1:cannot open shared object file: no such file or directory
Is that just a library missing ? How I can get one installed...
Pls advise
Thanks for help.
Evgeny.

Sounds as if someone built gdm against xorg-x11, then installed xfree.
xfree-4.3.0 provides fewer shared libraries than xorg-x11.
Try running this: revdep-rebuild --soname libXinerama.so.1. It may require the
full path to the .so (/usr/X11R6/lib/), not sure.
