Hi all -
I just uploaded the beta x86 LiveCD for 2004.2. It, along with the
specs, kernel configs, and portage snap used to build it can be found at
<http://dev.gentoo.org/~zhen/2004.2/. I have opened a "tracking" bug on
bugs.g.o for this. Please post all patches, bugs, comments, etc to that
bug so that we can more easily track our progress. Just so we have a
central authority, I will build the LiveCDs as needed for this testing
phase (works well because I can test catalyst enhancements too). The
bugs url is http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51396.

If you are testing (which everyone should be doing ;) ), please make
sure to test the following as much as possible. These are the areas that
we have highlighted for improvement:

-wireless
-pcmcia kernel modules
-Dell servers
-SATA
-SCSI
-SMP support

Once we get at least one test revision under our belt, I will post the
above to -dev so that we can get an even larger test group. Keep your
eyes out for the final 2004.2 schedule, which I will post this week.
Keep in mind that most of it will be spent in test cycles like this one
(which is a good thing :) ).
